Its position was very central. (I have used rest of this space to write negative things as not enough space below!) This was by far the worst hotel in the UK that I have ever stayed in. The pictures on the website are totally misleading. (both exterior and interior). My room was tiny, dirty and shabby. It was so hot, that I had no choice but to open the window, which looked out onto a roof covered with generators/coolers/extractors. The noise was then terrible. The bed was cheap and uncomfortable and the "pillows" were so thin they were useless.

There was no space in the bathroom even for my washbag. The shower tray drain was blocked so that if you showered for more than a couple of minutes, it overflowed. I asked a staff member to fix this. He tried but failed and gave up. The peak of its awfulness was when the room telephone started to ring at 3 a.m. There was no reply and it then rang 15 minutes later. Again no reply. I rang reception to ask them to sort it out, but reception was unmanned. When i complained in the morning (to a receptionist who was straightening her hair with hair straightener at the desk), I was told that she could not reimburse me but that the manager would call me to discuss. He/she never did. What a horrible place!

Central location; free and fast wireless internet

shabby room furniture, breakfast rudimentary, very slow response to problem of my room phone not working, I more or less had to tell the staff how to deal with this and this advice was eventually accepted. The internet exposure of this hotel over-rates it, I'm not used to staying in hotels in Britain but anywhere else this would be a 1.5 star hotel

The door is broken , light not work, the room is small and is cold because the radiator not work, so I am really disappoint...

Location excellent - but no parking and you have to hunt out your own street option in the surrounding streets, meaning getting up early to feed the meter when charging started the following morning.

The room was at the back but there was still considerable noise from air fans from neighbouring buildings outside that meant that the windows had to remain shut overnight - very hot in July. The room size, the cleanliness of the bathroom, and the coffee / breakfast was very poor. The ceiling of the bathroom had damp patches and brown discolouring all over it. There is a very good coffee shop directly over the road that sells good quality products and I would much have preferred using that and saving money on the totally crabby all-inclusive breakfast products offered (e.g. weak instant coffee). Overall drab, expensive, and offering poor value for money.

          The central location

There is no place in the rooms to eat the breakfast properly.

It was convenient for the theatre.

The breakfast was of a poor standard. Croissants not fresh and very little. Had to go out for a proper breakfast. Could not sleep for the noise outside. Room too hot with windows closed. Proper double glazing and air conditioning would have remedied this.

Its location is right there in central Oxford, convenient to shopping and restaurants and not too far from the University campus. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Although small, the room was clean. The water pressure and temperature control in the shower was excellent. The breakfast service was prompt and adequate.

As stated by others, there was some noise from the nightclub adjacent downstairs at night. The walls and door were not very soundproof either. It was a bit stuffy and warm in the room if the windows were shut. The electrical outlet for shavers did not function in my bathroom.

The location is Excellent. It is an easy walk to and from the railway station, the coach station theatres restaurants and colleges.

The room was small and the roadworks in the street started very early

Location in the center of Oxford. Free internet (WiFi) access

Window hatch was broken. Window would close but could not be securely locked since hatch was broken. Curtain in room had been torn apart and not fixed. Although bed appeared clean, the sheet had stains on it. Could be that somebody had spilled coffee or tea in the bed and that the stains could not easily be removed. Even if sheet was clean, it leaves a bad impression.

We liked the location. We went to Oxford for a show in Oxford New Theatre and the hotel was just opposite on the road. Good restaurants and shopping centres in short walking distance. Also all the personell of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Nice tray in the room for coffee and tea.

The hotel is in a great need of refurbishment. The furniture is minimalistic and old, the bathroom appliances old, everything in need of decoration. I think in summer can be very hot (no air conditioning). If you are not fit and your room is at the 3rd floor (where it is though less noise from the streeet) you need to consider that there is no lift. The breakfast is brought on a tray and the only space to have it is on the bed. I would not recommend this hotel unless it goes through major interior improvements.

        • Older travelers
          6.2

The location was the best feature of this hotel. It is central to all of the sights/sites that you wouldwant to visit in Oxford. The room was 'tired' but well equipped. The linen was spotless and the cleaning staff were hard at work every morning before we went out.

The view over the backyard was grotty and being woken before 7am by the accidental setting off of the fire alarm on two consecutive mornings was annoying. . The entrance way onto the street could be better - it looks shabby and dirty.

        • Family with children
          6.6

Breakfast was included, the price was low, the staff were very friendly and helpful--but the room was tiny and noisy. I do not recommend this hotel.

The room was on the street, near what my daughter and I took to be a very noisy pub. Both nights we were there, we were wakened by people having loud and long conversations right below our window, both about 1:30 and then again about 3:00 a.m. The room was very small--there was hardly any storage space, the only place for the breakfast tray was on one of the twin beds, and there was no room to squeeze past each other between or around the beds. And though it didn't bother us, to get to the hotel you have to climb up a long flight of stairs (if there was an elevator, we didn't see it).

not really a hotel ,,,,, rooms with someone on the door ( till 'no vacances'). No breakfast room - tray delivered to the room.....no space to lay tray. £85 too much for the facilities provided.
